As a child I had constant stomach pain. Sonographies came back clear. Adults said it was in my head.
What nobody connected was the antibiotics. I had tonsillitis so often that I took antibiotic courses almost every month. Each one wiped out more of my gut bacteria. My immunity was poor. My digestion was never stable.
At the same time, I was the kind of child who believed performance decided everything. That pressure stayed in my body long after the exams ended. By my late teens I had acid reflux after ordinary meals. Ayurveda helped more than anything the doctors prescribed. But the worst was still coming.
After my daughter was born, my gut collapsed. Pregnancy hormones, sleepless nights and the exhaustion of new motherhood hit together. Then came recurring parasitic infections. E. histolytica. Blastocystis. One after another.
I was on the highest doses of antispasmodics for six months. Every antibiotic course destroyed more of what was left. Ulcers. Hair loss. Acne. My cycle became irregular.
Two spoons of rice. Two trips to the toilet. That was my life at my worst.
I weighed 95 kg at nine months pregnant. Before that I was 65 kg at 5 feet 5 inches. The hormonal disruption, the gut damage and years of childhood cortisol had layered on top of each other.
I saw a gold-medallist gastroenterologist in South Mumbai. Scopes, ultrasounds, blood panels. Nothing showed up. Doctors said maybe IBS but nobody said it with certainty. Nobody had a plan.
I had also spoken to dietitians. Almost every one I found in India specialised in weight loss or diabetes. Nobody was treating IBS. Nobody had lived through it the way I had.
She reminded me that every time I took antibiotics as a child, I got diarrhoea. Once she had taken me to a Panchkarma clinic. They gave me herbs for a few weeks. The tonsillitis and the diarrhoea both cleared. Neither came back.
That memory changed my direction. I moved to Ayurveda. Bilvadi, Kutaj, Atisarvati. Chosen for my specific Prakriti. Fifty percent improvement within two to three months. The first real relief in years.
The other half required understanding the gut-brain axis. My nervous system. My sleep. My stress patterns. The relationship between how I had lived as a child and what my gut was doing as an adult.
Six to seven months after I started this approach, I was well. Not managing. Actually well. I lost the weight to 58 kg. Without counting a single calorie. Without cutting dal or rice.
I had been a teacher for ten years. I built a learning academy. I knew how to take complex things and make them clear for the person in front of me.
When I realised there was no IBS specialist in India who had clinical training, Ayurvedic knowledge and personal experience of the condition, I decided to become that person.
My husband enrolled me in my dietetics certification himself. His words were simple. He said nobody else would treat me the way I needed to be treated. So study, treat yourself, then help others.
As soon as I qualified and started sharing what I had learned, enquiries came in locally without any advertising. People who had struggled for years. People who had seen every specialist and still felt unheard. I knew exactly what they were going through.
"I eat bread now. I eat dairy. I eat out. I live without fear of food. Not because I was lucky. Because I found what actually works."

I work with clients across India, the UK, the US and Europe. Every single one gets a fresh Indian diet plan every week. Every one gets my direct WhatsApp number. Every one gets a same-day response when something goes wrong.
That experience of feeling unheard of being told your tests are normal when your body is saying otherwise shapes how I run every consultation. Nobody leaves without a clear answer and a clear next step.
India's only IBS dietitian who personally recovered from IBS-D, integrates clinical Ayurveda, and builds cycle-phase-aware Indian diet plans.
When your mind understands what nourishes your body, the right choices happen almost naturally. Not from willpower. From understanding. That is what the Sustain phase of every program is really about.
The body does not work in departments. Your gut bacteria affect your mood. Your sleep affects your cortisol. Your cortisol affects your insulin. Your insulin affects your PCOS. These are not separate problems. They are one system.
She came to me at 27 after seven years of suffering. Nausea, alternating diarrhoea and constipation, severe weight loss, insomnia and anxiety. She was convinced she had IBD. She had been avoiding the endoscopy for months out of fear. My first step was not a diet plan. I pushed her to get the scope done. It came back completely clear. IBS. Four months later she was off Imodium. Eating wheat. Eating dairy. She said it felt like being born again. The fear of food is often a bigger obstacle than the physical symptoms. Treating it is part of the work.
I live in Mumbai with my husband and daughter. My husband enrolled me in my certification. His support made everything possible. My daughter asks for fruit over junk food without being told. That is the best proof I have that what I teach works at home too.
I taught English for ten years before nutrition became my calling. I still love literature. I walk, run and practise yoga. My project for my thirties is learning tennis.
I am also self-learning Korean and German. Language has always been how I make sense of the world.
